An Open Letter to my Dog

Dear Bella,

I’m writing this letter to tell you thank you for coming into my life. To be honest, you couldn’t have came at a better time. Life is hard and stressful sometimes and you make it so much better. The funny thing is, you don’t even know it… and you never will. You spread so much love and positivity throughout the house unknowingly and impact all of our lives everyday. The past 3 years have been so much easier by having you at my side every day. You help me get through hard time and long days, so thank you.

After a long day of school and practice, I look forward to opening the garage door and seeing you come running to me. That helps me forget about all my worries in the world for just a few minutes everyday. Seeing you jump around from couch to couch when you’re hyper has to be the cutest thing ever, and it makes everyone laugh or smile. But I have to ask, what is your obsession with ice and snow? You beg for ice cubes by pawing at the freezer and sometimes I wonder if you even realize they aren’t just for you… We eat / drink ice cubes too. In fact, I think you eat more ice cubes in a day than I do.

Sometimes you can be a handful and very annoying but who isn’t. I just wish you wouldn’t bark every time the UPS or Amazon driver drops off a package at our house. Why do you do that? I guess you just like people. I can’t help but wonder if you will always act like a puppy or if you will grow up at some point. I remember the day we got you, we weren’t sure if it was the best decision, but you definitely were super cute. The first couple months were tragic, you caused so much trouble, but I guess that’s what puppies do.

Looking back now, you are the best pup ever. Watching you sleep or play with your toys is the cutest thing in the world and I wouldn’t change anything about you. Thank you for coming into my life and spreading love and happiness. I’m dreading the day I move to college and won’t be able to see you everyday. I’ll have to have mom and dad send me pictures of you often, even though 1/2 of my camera roll is already pictures of you.

I haven’t really had a pet in my life and you made me realize that everyone should get a dog. The cute little things you do make it worth it. I do have a question for you though… why do you always run to your food bowl and start eating after someone comes home through the garage door? I just find that a bit odd and I guess I’ll never know but you do you. Also, I don’t know if you have realized this but my bed is for me, not for you to sleep in.

Yours,

Carson Levandowski aka your brother
